Nigerian artist Laolu Senbanjo’s work explores the spiritual side of the Yoruba upbringing and culture. For himself as an artist, he feels that body art is an intimate, ‘spiritual experience’ where one finds their inner ‘Ori’ or God. This African art image shows a young man adorned fully in both the Yoruba body art and clothing creations by Senbanjo. It shows the audience that traditional African body art holds value in a modern world. Senbanjo weaves stories throughout the lines of his intricate body art, focusing on messages of cultural identity, feminism and women's rights issues.
